space-oddity's Diaryland Diary

families

clay's mother can listen to a song and tell you if it was produced by the band rammstein. it's unbelievable, and when depeche mode's stripped is playing in the background, you can hear her singing along with the words. she also seems to have a vast knowledge of robotech characters. it's not that she's overly interested in these things. she's just really interested in her children and the things that they are interested in, and she doesn't tell them to "turn that shit off" when they listen to music or watch shows not geared towards the middle-aged population. she's a wonderful, caring mother.

so that's where i was today. over at clay's mother's for a cookout, and though there were only four of us, it was nice to be around some sort of family for a while. i enjoy going over whenever clay let's me have the chance. he thinks it's completely boring and that there's no bother in even asking me to come because, afterall, who would want to do a thing like that? but really, i love it. they're nice, fun people, and i never really had a family atmosphere like that of my own. i think that's why i've had a tendency my whole life to adopt other people's families. a family is something everybody needs. now i just need to find a good and stable one of my own. closely knit and nearby.

and speaking of.. my mother should have just now arrived in hawaii. it's almost 3 a.m. i hope the flight went well. i'll be hearing from her tomorrow. she'll be there for a while. a long, long while. so far away.
