"it looks like you need an extra hand," said the old man. he took my bags, and i buttoned my coat with two hands instead of one. this happened a few weeks ago. i should have written about it sooner. it was a very unsuspected sweet gesture from a nice stranger. in my fake pretend world full of whimsy, i'd be able to make him a thank-you card. i could be sneaky and slip it underneath his front door. we'd eventually turn out to be good friends. no, not that kind of friend.
