THIS kind of bothers me. in the beginning, it was very nice of her to post a friendly little line or two on my notes page. didn't know it would lead to this. the images are different, and the layout is in reverse... but still... it's just kind of.. well. the table is the same size. and so is the font and the font color and the same kind of orange is used in the links. and and she could have at least changed some of her menu options.. and wow. i'm just speechless... but like i said earlier.. hey hey hey what can you do? absofuckinglutely speechless. i was doing the late calls today at work and left a message for a melissa somebody, just letting her know that her tapes were overdue. a couple hours later, a woman came into check in some late movies. she told me that she got a message for melissa on her family's answering machine. "i really wish you wouldn't call for melissa anymore. she died a few years ago. i'm the new wife. i'm just glad i was able to get to your message before the kids got home from school. hearing something like that could traumatize them.. no telling how they'd react." she talked to me as if i should have known about this tragedy. three years .. they had been renting tapes for three years.. still under melissa's account. i really was sorry for calling, but i felt like she was taking some anger out on me. her tone of voice. it just wasn't fitting. i started thinking about being the new wife and how hard it probably is for her. i doubt she enjoys being reminded of melissa.. and yes, it would be horrible for a five year old to come home from school and hear that his dead mother had rented some video tapes. i can't even imagine.. but the truth of it all is that the kids didn't hear.. but she heard. after scolding me a little more, she paid her late fees and left the store. i stood there feeling very sad and disgusting. people like to spread bad karma like it's a line of upright dominos. i just wanted to yell at people. it rained outside. and now people are stealing from me. 2:11 am - Thursday, Feb. 07, 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
